Virtual Run World is One Year Old!

Thank you, thank you and thank you. Thanks to the many virtual runners for supporting us in our first year. We launched Virtual Run World one year and one day ago and what an amazing ride it has been. Almost as good as Toy Story Mania in Disney World. Does this make it our first year anniversary or first birthday? We celebrated it as our one year anniversary yesterday, but I would like to say it is our first birthday. Yesterday, during our celebration I told the restaurant it was my birthday. It was my way to legitimize my excuse for the chocolate cake I ordered and having the waiters and waitress’ singing me a happy, happy birthday song. Terri says, it is an anniversary, because she does not have a craving for chocolate cake. Silly girl.

With your amazing support this last year, we have been able to help so many people in so many ways. Thanks for motivating us and others to run and get moving. Thank you for supporting our medal designs.

What are our plans for the future? Here is what we are doing for you and what we can do together in addition to what we already are accomplishing.

In celebration of our first anniversary, or as I like to call it, my birthday, we are offering a Magical Medal Mystery Giveaway. What is that you ponder? This is one of our medals personally signed by a real Disney character. This will be accomplished with the help of Princess Sophia, who lives near Disney World. Who is the Disney character and what medal will it be? That is the mystery. Of course, you could alternately choose to win any Virtual Run World new medal not yet announced or an existing medal from our inventory.

Medals – more and more medals. We hope to have at least one new medal a month in 2015. We will make them big enough for personal defense. We will also produce some guy medals to encourage some of our male runners who have been eating entirely too much chocolate cake. We currently have three medal designs in the works in a variety of themes. The next medal should be announced soon.

We would like you to join our team #virtualrunworld on Charity Miles. With every mile you run some rich generous corporation will donate .25 cents to the charity of your choice. We just learned of the site through our adopted daughter. We call her adopted, but she really belongs to our good friends, who came by her naturally. We ran 8.5 miles the other night (a chilly 15 F) to test out this very simple and easy to use program. We researched the program, like what we found and want to support it. We wish you also would support it and invite you to join our team. This will also force us to run more, even if its cold, because you can see our miles and lack of training.

We will also be increasing content on Virtual Run World in our Real Run World tab with information inspired by you to include runDisney tips and great food and nutrition ideas. Is there something you would like to see? Please share.

What else? I have no idea, we are just winging it right now. We are enjoying the ride, even though this Virtual Run World dream project takes all our time and resources. I will not even mention the computer website techie worm holes that we must travel through to bring medals to the world. Thank you again for sharing your stories, motivating and supporting us in our venture.

Love your medals! You didn’t mention it, but if your birthday was yesterday, Nov, 18th, then you share a birthday with Mickey Mouse! How lucky are you? Thank you for the work you do, I’ve done a virtual 10K already, have another one planned, and am sure I’ll be back for more. Happy belated Birthday and/or Anniversary!

Barbara, WOW 🙂 It might seem like we planned that, but honestly we didn’t. We first learned what a virtual run was on October 28, 2013, then quickly bought a domain name and within 3 weeks designed the website and the first medal. We officially started our company, Virtual Run World, on November 18, 2013 since that is the day our website was published 🙂 How did we not know that it was Mickey’s Birthday????? Ok, now we are needing to celebrate 🙂 Thank you for the insight and for all of your support! Happy Training!

Happy anniversary!!! (because I don’t celebrate birthdays) I’ve been using the Charity Miles app for awhile, it’s a great way to earn extra money for your favorite charity.

Teresa, we have only just learned of Charity Miles and tried it on our night run earlier this week, but we love the idea and wanted to help spread the word 🙂 Thanks!

Hello, I just want to say thank you for the motivation medals as I call them they make me strive to earn them. You see I started out a very fine runner. All through school and ran many marathons and races. But five years ago was diagnosed with a very severe form of Fibromyalgia. Needles to say I am no longer able to run fast or far. I can now barley finish a 5 K in 58 mins now. But I keep going. I fight the fight for Fibro and when I run for the bling of your wonderful medals well I make it, I do suffer the next day and end up in bed the whole day. But when I get my medal in the mail I know I worked hard for it and I deserve it! Thank you so much. Sincerely , Suzanne Hagen Fibro Warrior

Congratulations on the site’s first “birthiversary”! (Yeah, spell check wanted to fix that word, but I wouldn’t let it… As a “superfan” of the site here, I am very excited to see what the next year brings. Looking forward to those new medals for us Dudes you mentioned! (They will be wicked awesome, I’m sure) Even though I haven’t been on the site for a whole year (just a couple of months), let me just say my appreciation for your wit, artistic ability, fun stories, passion for the site, dedication to the people who post, quick shipping, friendly posts, and all else don’t go unnoticed, as it feels more like a friendship here than just another website in cyberspace. It is obvious that you really care, what a refreshing quality. Thank you! And again CONGRATULATIONS!!!
